The wires don't need to go anywhere special as long as they don't bind/get pinched where you want 'em. Plus, there's alot more in the headlight than just the headlight (connections and such)- so you need to open it up and get a feel for how much wiggle-room you have. Other than that- re-route as you see fit, just be careful of what gets pinched and pulled with you on it.
